What is sirittsd on Mac?
sirittsd turns text into speech in Siri's voice. TTS stands for text to speech.
What it does
When Siri speaks a response, sirittsd generates the audio. It ships in Apple's SiriTTSService framework and starts on demand. Siri voices themselves are downloaded separately, by mobileassetd.
Why it gets busy
- Siri speaking long responses.
- Preparing a newly downloaded or changed Siri voice.
Is it safe to quit?
macOS starts it again when Siri needs to speak.
How to calm it down
- If you'd rather read Siri's answers, turn off voice feedback in Siri's response settings.
- Let a new voice finish downloading and installing.
In SystemWatch
SystemWatch explains sirittsd in plain words, so you can tell it's Siri's voice and not an unknown audio process.
