What is siriknowledged on Mac?
siriknowledged keeps an index that helps Siri understand your requests, built from things like your contacts, installed apps and Home accessories.
What it does
When your contacts change, an app is installed or removed, your Home setup updates, or you change Siri's language, siriknowledged updates what Siri knows about those names. That's how Siri matches “call Mom” or an app's name correctly.
Why it gets busy
- Large contact lists, or many contact changes at once.
- Installing or removing many apps.
- Changing Siri's language or settings, which rebuilds its data.
- Home accessory changes synced from your other devices.
Why is siriknowledged using so much CPU?
siriknowledged updates Siri's index when contacts, apps or Home data change. Big changes cause bursts that end on their own.
Is it safe to quit?
macOS restarts it when the next change happens.
How to calm it down
- Let it finish after big changes, like importing contacts.
- If it keeps running long after a change, restart the Mac.
In SystemWatch
SystemWatch's History shows siriknowledged's bursts lining up with contact imports or app installs, which confirms it's catching up, not stuck.
